The Kite Festival

Even though there wasn't enough wind at the Kite Festival, the kids still had fun. It could have been raining and the kids would still be having fun. It's all about attitude and energy...if you have the right attitude then you have the energy to have a good time.

The Ceiling

Interesting old light fixture in the Livestock Exchange building, one of the coolest buildings in KC. I enjoy walking around this building at sunset when the light comes glowing through the windows and hallways. It's a wonderful place to have a studio,I'm so lucky to be there. There's great creative energy in that building and some great talent working there.

Fun Fellows About Town

These guys look like fun and ready for just about any adventure. I need to adopt their attitude.

Flag and Construction Site

Found this scene on a lunchtime walk around Union Station. Part abstract and part political. Make of it what you will.

Funky Birdhouses

Just some funky birdhouses hanging on a light pole in the Crossroads Art District. One of my favorite places in KC,full of art, eats and odd stuff. These creations are across from Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, another gem in this city.

Lindberg at the Bemis Center

Took a trip recently to Omaha to see the final days of an exhibition at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts with some work by Anne Lindberg. Her installation of thousands of colorful threads in the corner of the room is amazing. This photo in no way does it any justice,it's mesmerizing. You stand in front of it and it just vibrates with color and light. So worth the trip.

Bison

Omaha has some great outdoor sculptures, their placement is really intriguing. There were animals all over downtown protruding from buildings. Nice touch.

Cool Clock

Can't get enough of these clocks. The numbers, the neon, the reflections, love it all.

Melting Bench

Love this bench just outside of the Bemis Center, brilliant use of materials and location.

Leaves in Linen

Cloth that has been rolled up with eucalyptus leaves inside and left to stain a beautiful pattern on them.

Embroidery

Some crazy embroidery on a patterned paper towel, cool idea.

Amazing Weaver

One of the artists,Erin M Riley, at the Bemis Center involved in the Open Studios. She made some really amazing photo-realistic weavings. Not your usual themes on woven materials.
